Default deck construction

Looking for voice of experience building a yurt on a steep sloped lot with severe winters. Questions include design of decking for even weight bearing,

insulation

between ground/decking and decking/yurt given high snow loads and sub zero temps, and options for

heating

yurt off the grid
thanks in advance

Kacey, I'm gonna be blunt. You need an engineer for advice about a

yurt platform

on a steep slope with severe winters. Not only do we not know your site, there are no photos. Sorry but that's that. Unless you are in the boonies somewhere and don't need a building permit, the building dept. is going to need stamped plans, or they will not issue you any permit. Not only that, your entire investment is sitting on the platform, let alone the lives of the occupants. Good luck.
