I've also had a response from

Smiling Woods Yurts

. They stated that can draw up plans and have them qualified by an engineer with a North Carolina stamp to meet the specifications for my area. Which is good news since they also offer a roof kit, though I'll be inquiring to source some of the bulkier components locally.
