    Update: So the subcontractor I selected did a great job over 3 days with his crew. He has been SUPER helpful with putting me in contact with other subs in the area - and just an all around nice guy....

    Update: Thanks for all of the collective feedback and perspective. Every field is different - in my field (higher education) this would not fly at all and there would be consequences for ghosting...
