Thanks for the advice. The trex bender was 1/2" so seemed to be fine with the brackets. I also used weatherstripping on the base, and everything turned out very weatherproof. It took about 5 hours...

Finished the platform, and the deck. LED downlighting around the entirety of the deck. For the platform, we choose a weathered looking engineered floating floor with a built in pad. A few photos...
