A Google search for elastomeric paints may reveal a product that is less expensive, but I have not personally checked pricing. If cost is more of a concern than longevity you might want to simply...

There are lots of different brands that work well. I think Proteshield should work fine.

I've had quite a few customers do this to extend the life of the cover so that they can save enough money to purchase a new one. Typically they get at least a couple of extra years out of it.
