The studs in mine are attached by brackets to the rafters and to the platform. I mount cabinets and other such things to them with no problem. You couldn't move them if you tried. Of course, we...

I would imagine you would erect studs from the rafters to the floor like many have with snow/wind kits. Then build off of those.
