Instead of 8' rips, use 10'. For structural strength reasons and wind resistance I wouldn't go taller than whatever 10' would give you, with the Kaminari plan..

I can't help with the large plan. If you haven't built a yurt from scratch before, you might be interested in building a small yurt to gain some build skills. If so, google:
