I complained to the manufacturer of the kit and they sent me a new one which did work BTW. Wow, I forgot how much I love the taste of oyster shrooms!

Well for the record, these won't be wild, just cultivated. :) I would like to get used to identifying oyster mushrooms though so I know them in the wild.
