Default Cleaning plastic hub

My yurt's base is built on posts on a fairly steep slope so the height of the hub from the ground varies from 15 feet on one side to over 30 feet on the other. I can just about reach a third of the hub to clean it from a 20 foot ladder from the shorter side but can't get to the centre or the other sides. Have tried a power washer with a long wand but the hub needs to be "scrubbed" by hand to remove the slime and dirt. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Have you considered an old pool brush? You can usually find them on craigslist/yard sales.

Thanks Jafo - amazingly enough I was just looking at pool cleaning stuff and also apparently there are brushes on extending poles used for cleaning ctv cameras!

I have also seen loooong handled brushes at truck stops where they wash trucks, but I'm not sure about more than 30 feet...

Can you remove the done from the inside? Bring it down, scrub it, then put it back up? Not sure how heavy and awkward they are to handle. (Bought my yurt second hand so was not here when it was put up.).

Also thought of a soft rope over the top with a cloth attached. Two people on opposite sides pulling back and forth - like the old time logging saws. I don't know. Could be too risky damaging something (and/or not working well).

There must be people on here who have actually had to clean their

dome

We typically remove the

dome

skylight for a thorough cleaning at ground level and then re-install it. This is done by working from a step ladder in the middle of the yurt to disconnect the dome and slide it down the roof (using a blanket and some cordage). The newly cleaned dome can then be slid back up the roof and re-installed. I hope this helps!

There you have it. Thanks Pacific Yurts! Any thoughts on what's the best cleaner? Some mild dish soap?

For general cleaning you should use mild dish soap and a soft cloth. You can then use a plastic polish like Novus to shine it up, which will also help to repel dust.

I should probably do this to mine, but I am loath to unstaple the screen from the

center ring
