New Feature: Videos

Yes, I have been rather quiet the last couple weeks haven't I? Well one reason is this feature I have been working on that allows us to upload videos directly to Yurt Forum. This was a pretty intense project and you would not believe how much work is involved!

When you are making a post, you should see a button that says Manage Attachments like you always have, but when you click that button, you should see a new option to upload videos:



There is currently a 500MB limit to videos, but I hope to increase that over time. Here are the supported video types:

3gp, 3gp2, asf, aiff, avi, mp4, mov, mpeg, mpg, wmv, ogg

In order for me to break even on this feature, you will occasionally see an ad at the beginning of some videos. I really did not have a choice but do this because there is a lot of expense encoding, storing, and delivering the video. Should a video ever go viral, it would cost a lot of money for me to serve it. There should never be an ad over 30 seconds though, so let me know if you do see any.

Very cool. Might be kinda late to ask but is there an option to post a You Tube video?

You can always post youtube videos, just past the link to the video in your post and it will be displayed as a video.
