This guy (http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-yourself-a-portable-home---a-mongolian-yurt/?ALLSTEPS) for example, used 6mm slabs for the walls.

It's not only a matter of price, but also portability and efficiency.

Why use half inch when a quarter could work?

I'm starting to plan for building my first yurt.

I'd like to know how thick/deep the lattices pieces must be. I've seen yurts with very thin and flexible wood used, and more...
