Default Yurts in Michigan?

I have really been wanting to build a Yurt as my primary home. Michigan is my #1 choice because of my profession.

Finding information on permitting and counties that will issue permits for Yurts seems like pulling teeth.

All the info I have found so far does not seem very specific & I have spent quite a few hours looking around.

I need to do this as cheaply as possible. I literally don't have the money to buy the yurt yet, let alone land, but I am working on that. Trying to get a plan together so when I do have the money I'll know what needs to be done.

Pacific Yurts

seems to have the cheapest options that I could find - but not sure if I can get an engineering package? I saw another thread saying

Colorado Yurts

provides those but their Yurts are more expensive.

I am doing van life at the moment to save money - so I am not too concerned about everything being perfect or of the highest quality. Mostly just want a bigger space that is paid for and works for daily life (and of course not to fall apart in a year or two).

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction to find more info on counties that have/will issue permits for Yurts. The closer to one of the Great Lakes the better. I know I'm not likely to find it and it's probably a pipe dream, but overlooking one of the Great Lakes is my ideal location. Any body of water better than none ... but realitsically if the price is right no body of water on the land is ok and more likely to be affordable for me in the near future.

Default Re: Yurts in Michigan?

Contact Roger Waters at 'Camping Yurts'. Roger posts here on occasion. Lemme tell yuh that dude can build a yurt. My three homemade yurts were essentially the same build as his. I could have lived in my 16'er. But 20' would have been WAY better for year around living, and I believe Roger offers that size now.

Keep working. Stay productive. Keep applying yourself. >NEVER< give up on your objective, it is reasonable and doable. It WILL happen for you. Good luck.
