If you choose to do this be absolutely sure that the lattice wall is screwed to your wood frame everywhere that it intersects with it. The lattice wall needs to become the shear wall and transfer loads around the cut opening. This is particularly important if you are in an area that experiences high winds or heavy snowfall.
