Default Platform structure question

I'm about to build my

yurt platform

and I'm following the suggested plans from

Colorado yurts

, about platform framing,

insulation

and subfloor. My question is about the

insulation

layer.

I'm planning to put OSB on top of the joists, under the

yurt platform

, to tie the joists together. On top of that will be the platform framing, insulation (blue layer in the image) and subfloor. I'm showing the floor framing extending beyond the perimeter of the platform, but those will be cut back to the diameter of the platform.

My question is: should I just put the insulation panels directly on the OSB and build the framing structure on top of the insulation layer (see image)? Or should I put the framing directly on the OSB and put the insulation between the framing?

I like the idea of putting the insulation on the OSB and framing on top of the insulation, because it will be a continuous insulation layer, uninterrupted by the framing. But wondering about how to attach the floor framing to the insulation layer if I take that approach?

I would never place load bearing floor framing atop foam board. I would fit the foam board between the framing and use 'great stuff' foam to seal the gaps. In all my years as a carpenter I've never seen floor framing laying on top of foam insulation.

Better mention that frame walls can be sheathed with foam panels because there is no load.

I gotta say as an old school carpenter there are some modern construction techniques that I'm pretty skeptical of. But, my comments are just my opinion. If you really want to go with framing atop insulation I recommend talk that detail out with

Colorado yurts

.

You're absolutely right. I had it backward in my head (and then on my plan) for some silly reason. Glad you said something. It made me go back to look at the plans from Colorado Yurt and check myself.
