Default Pacific Yurt platform recommendation

We're putting up a 20' Pacific Yurt in the western mountains of Maine. It will be a bunkhouse, 150 feet from our log cabin.

The carpenter I hired, assumed that he'd be building a 16-inch on center platform. Then I looked at one of the Pacific Yurt recommended ways that had a 2x6 finished floor over approx. 4' on center 4x6or8 beams. See attached diagram.

I like the simplicity and low cost of the Pacific yurt plan. But will this floor be too bouncy?

As 'Tigger' would say, "Trouncy bouncy flouncy pouncy fun fun fun fun fun!" lol As noted on the plan, 4' is a standard span for 2x6 T&G flooring lumber in post and beam houses. I have worked on a handful of post and beam houses over the decades that had that exact 2x6 T&G decking over 4' center beams, and don't remember it being lively floor. Unlike todays osb over code minimum I joists in tract housing. Tigger floors. Boing! Boing! Boing! lol

Me personally I'd screw the decking into the framing. I definitely wouldn't gun nail it. Good luck.

With it being a bunk house I do not see any need to go closer than 4 feet with 2x6 flooring.

Another way is get engineered floor joist. That is what my yurt sits on with 3/4 subfloor.

I agree with Bob. Screw it, do not nail it. (That doesn't sound right)
