Can you review and provide feedback on Ger heat loss model?

Hi all,

I hope you're well!

I'm a graduate student at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and am looking at ways of improving heat loss in Gers.

I've built a simple model that tries to capture heat loss through thermal conductivity and air leakage to determine how many BTUs / hr are lost through various parts of the Ger.

Given your expertise, I want to reach out the forum to ask for any thoughts or feedback on the model?

Specifically:

- Do the R-Value assumptions look reasonable?
- Does the heat loss through air loss look reasonable?
- How does the total compare to your own experience or numbers you've seen elsewhere?
- How many BTUs do your

heating

systems generate? Is this sufficient?
- Have I done anything stupid?

Can't speak to the math/engineering of it all as that is not my area of knowledge. I will say that in my 30' yurt, I heat with this stove:

Which definitely keeps it quite warm, even well below 0F. Beware of overinsulating a soft-walled yurt. The structure needs to breath. If you have ever spent the night in a tent, what usually happens? Everything inside is sort of damp in the morning from the

moisture

. The same happens in a yurt. The structure MUST breath or you will get mold.
