Brand New 24' Colorado Yurt For Sale: $7,000!!
THE YURT HAS BEEN SOLD!
This is kind of a heartbreaking story, but here you go:
Quote:
I bought this yurt in June of 2010 with these kinds of intentions but have since become gravely ill and am now in need of selling it at a huge discount from the original cost of $11,600.
On June 1, 2010, I signed a land contract in central Tennessee, for a paradisiacal 100 acre stream valley hollows that would become my home, place for integrated biodynamic forest garden, and a gnostic center for "un-plugging" from the world we've all been conditioned to believe and participate as "well-adjusted" citizens in order that I might reclaim my natural human self. The yurt was delivered early July, and I was busy trekking the land and investigating where would be the best spot. But as autumn came I began to slow down and pain entered my back. By January 2011 I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where I would remain an eternal 8 weeks before my release. I have late-stage Multiple Myeloma, an aggressive bone-deteriorating bone marrow cancer. I lost a cumulative total of 6 inches in my vertical height, many of my vertebral bones fractured, most of my ribs had fractured, breastbone snapped, and the top of my left femur fractured. Thankfully the ribs healed and straightened-out, my femural fracture healed enough without surgery and I am able to walk with crutches and do some light bicycling.

Yurt for Sale - Frush Farm
He basically needs to sell the yurt so he can pay for his expenses. It is a pretty nifty yurt too:
Here is the door/window layout:
Here are the features he has listed:
- Giant 24-foot diameter
- 10' taller wall
- Deep Powder load vertical studs + compression ring
- DuroLast roof (14 year warranty transfers to buyer)
- Gorgeous Solid oak front door (with keys)
- Rain gutter-cistern system
- 6-inch stovepipe outlet with cover
- 5 windows
- Door awning
- Clear skylight dome
- Ceiling fan mount
That is a pretty good deal if you ask me, plus you would be helping someone out!

Something sounds off here... It's a great price and a sad story, my heart goes out to this person. As far as I know though, Colorado doesn't sell yurts with 10' walls or solid oak doors. They do customize when requested, but I think I'd have heard about the possibility of doing a 10' wall, since I've been requesting it for a while. I've put in a query with them, will keep you posted. Is he sure it's a Colorado Yurt? Not Blue Ridge?

did post this on their facebook page, that is where I found it. I never heard of 10' walls either. The customer may have just wrote it down wrong.

OK, got the scoop from CYC. It is a Colorado Yurt, but they do not sell 10' yurt walls, so that is a misunderstanding or typo. I'm not sure about the Oak door either... never heard of that with CYC, but maybe he had it made special.
When in doubt, or when wanting to confirm, call CYC (or any manufacturer associated with a second hand yurt) and give them the name of the original purchaser. They can pull the records and tell you all the components associated with any particular yurt.
The original owner has passed on now. I hope whoever ends up with it cherishes the story behind it and keeps that story as a reminder to love and cherish each and every day. I love how the gentleman described himself, a wood gnome type.

Thanks for that advice, Hawaii. I knew PY did it from some of their information, but I didn't realize you could access original owner specs from most [reputable] companies.

Yes, a reputable company will always be able to do that, as long as you have the original purchaser's name. Some companies even put serial numbers on the yurt. It's a good reason to always try to keep the paperwork information with the yurt, documentation, even if the warranty isn't valid, it helps on down the line if it gets resold. Even some reputable companies won't help with parts without that info.

I see on their site that they now state the yurt has been sold. Hopefully it was someone from here who bought it!
