Hello everyone,

I am new the to forum but have been reading lots over the last couple of weeks.

I have a yurt ordered from Pacific yurts and shipping will happen in August.

I am wondering if anyone has gone though the process of bringing in a yurt across the border and could help with any info on :

Best customs broker to deal with and cheapest?

Different hauling companies for the actually delivery ?
(Pacific yurts has given me quotes for 2 different address but is using Fedex which seems like a strange company to move a 3600lbs package with.

In addition to this if anyone has any experience getting a yurt shipped to Vancouver Island, It would be super cool to hear how you went about it.

Thanks in advance

The confusion about shipping with FedEx may be that you are thinking of the company's package delivery services. A yurt would ship with FedEx Freight, which handles "motor freight" shipments rather than packages. We ship with several different freight companies and our shipping coordinator chooses the company who has the best rates for any particular region or for individual situations (different sizes of yurts or combinations of features on a yurt). You are always welcome to investigate your own shipping methods, but you should certainly talk with Scott (our shipping coordinator) directly if you have questions about your shipment. He is very knowledgeable and a super nice guy to boot!
