Yurt Design Software?

Hi all,

Completely new to yurts, but my wife says she has always wanted one, so like the fool I am I agreed to build one.

Can anybody recommend software to design the yurt (the actual yurt itself rather than what will go in it like the only other software thread I could see here)? Linux native software would be preferred, but no real problem if not as I can run it under WINE or on a virtual machine.

You could google 'Simplydifferently.org he has/had a calculator on it. I amnot sure if thats exactly correct or no, google it and they might correct it if its not.

Where do you want to build yours?

I used the calculator on "Simplydifferently.org" and it worked perfectly. There is a bit of a learning curve....it is in metric and some of it isn't very intuitive, but work your way through...you'll be glad you did.

I was after something a little more advanced, but good find anyway thanks.

I'm British so quite happy with either measurement system :^<

Only had a quick look, I'll go through it more deeply when I get the time. Thanks for the heads up.
 
I was searching long and hard for a computer tool and the simplydifferent one is the best, mine still has all of the measurements etc. that I worked out on it.
 
Im in the same boat and looking too for 3d software to desing a round house.
So far haven' t found anything as most is for square design.
Im now using paper in scale, but digital is far easyer.
Also running linux.
Anybody a good working solution that is not to difficult to get going.
