Here are some photos from our yurt build, beginning last June and running up to this October. It's a 27 foot Colorado Yurt tall boy with a 30' by 32' deck/platform.

Look at the photos Pablo. The photos are out of chronological order, but the yurt is sitting on that 2x4 platform. An elevated platform keeps the yurt above the surrounding deck. Why? An elevated platform enables the yurt wall cover to extend below the interior yurt floor. Typically on a high grade yurt platform build like this one, there is a perimeter band of plywood about a foot tall, that is attached vertically to the outside of the platform framing. That keeps the wall lattice on the platform. It also gives an anchorage point for the wall cover. Additional benefits are it keeps out drafts bugs and water. This photo spread illustrates an 'A' grade build, which that high grade yurt deserves.
