The roof canvas of the yurt i will be repairing and living in is on crooked. now i have never worked on a yurt or lived in one so its going to be a tough project and i need some advice.

How would i move the canvas over to the side a little? how many people would i need/ how difficult would this be?

I'm sorry to answer a question with another question, but does it leak? If it doesn't leak, I'd leave it alone and work around what is bothering you. The reason I say this is because if the weight of the roof. They are heavy and hard to move, particularly after they have been in place for while. All are seamed, and if you pull on them too much they separate.

Is this a custom or manufactured yurt. If the latter, what brand? What size?

it does leak right by the door. its causing the floor by the door to rot out. im not sure who made it or anything, me and my girlfriend dont really own it we are going to begin to buy it and the land its on.

Hmm I would be very careful moving it. Probably the #1 thing that damages yurt roofs are when they are put on and off. Perhaps you might want to run a hose on it, or otherwise pour water on it to see how it is leaking? Normally you will have to untie where it is connected to the side wall to move any section. Could be tricky.

thank you so much. we might try to fix the leak without moving the canvas now that we know its so easy to rip or break it

If the top cover fabric is strong and pliable you should be able to shift it by disconnecting the side cover from it and then blow air between the top cover and insulation using a leaf blower. This will 'float' the top cover on an air pocket. While air is being blown between the layers a couple of people can pull the top cover in whichever direction it needs to move to be centered. I hope this helps!

that is a great way to do it! i never would of thought of that. definetely could come in handy. thank you

Get four people on A-frame ladders around the perimeter and one person on a scaffold in the middle/inside. Count to three aloud and then everyone lift up in a 'flapping' motion and in the direction needed. It's actually incredible how well that technique works. Get the roof right and then retest for leaking.
