Roof "pumps" in the wind. Is that normal? Wood Stove?

My yurt's roof pumps up and down in the wind and I'm wondering if that is going to create an issue with negative pressure inside, filling the yurt with smoke if I install a wood stove.

I get that here at camp, and my wood stove has never burped out smoke. I suppose it might if the stove was open, but if you have the door closed, that is a LOT of pressure going into the stove.

I guess I picked a really great time to move into my yurt, high winds and lots of snow from day one (moved in on December 1st). So maybe that has slanted my fear about smoke in the yurt. Last night was calm, finally. This morning was nice and sunny, the birds were even making noise. That's more along the lines of what I had imagined yurt living to be.

Yay you survived the wind!!! We live in a very windy part of the country with lots and lots of high wind storms... our average wind is high wind haha. We don't ever have problems with the flapping and pumping that goes on with the tarps where the wood stove is concerned. Even with the door open and the flu shut it doesn't seem to affect it at all. The only few times I have had smoke come back out of the stove is in fall or spring when the weather gets really really still... and some weird weather pressure system is just hanging over us... its very strange and rare.

Sunny mornings with birds are the nicest times aren't they. I'm glad you got all settled in good!
