I spent the last few days getting my yurt camp open for the season and while opening the windows up, I started thinking of ways to be able to leave them open without having to close them when it rains. Normally I just roll up the window flaps, but rain water will roll over them and actually come in the window. I had some leftover rough cut wood from a past project stacked up on the ground and a couple of branches This is what I came up with. It worked out fine and held up with the rain and high winds we got the next day..

All I did was tie the branch to the straps on the bottom of the window flaps and then lean them up against the 8' 2X4's. I did drive a screw into the 2X4s that the branch would rest on so they didn't slide, but nothing was permanent. Before I came up, I just laid the 2X4's down and zipped up the windows.
