Platform Preservation

So, say you've got a yurt platform that, for whatever reason, doesn't have a yurt sitting on it. How do you protect it?
My strategy was to make a perfunctory roof out of rafters and a tarp, weighing down the tarp to the ground with cinder blocks and this and that.
I should have taken off the drip edge, 'cause that trapped some water. And the tarp did begin to leak, so there's some water damage now, too. Nothing fatal, yet.
Anybody got any bright ideas? Cheap solutions? Cheap being the operative word. Or is that what got me into this whole trouble to start with? :)

Can you get ahold of a pool cover? Then you could tie off through the grommet holes to stakes, keeping the cover tight as long as you keep the ring and rafters as you have it pictured.

You can use full bottles of water, quart or otherwise and tie those to the grommet holes and just let them hang. As long as you can scrpe together enough plastic bottles, it's free and easier on your back than cinder blocks.
