Metal roof suggestions to replace leaking canvas

We are considering replacing our leaking canvas roof on our 24ft yurt with metal roofing 30degree pitch. Found a company in NY with cost of $7000 . Any other options or suggestions would be most welcome. If you have gone this route did you place on top of canvas and insulation or remove the old canvas. Reluctant to replace with new canvas as it only lasted 3 years in New Mexico high elevation, lots of sun and good amounts of snow in the winter. Appreciate your feedback.

Our vinyl roof was supposed to last 10 years, it lasted 3 so would prefer a more permanent solution and not have to replace the vinyl every few years.

Umm, then you got ripped off. My vinyl roof came with a 15 year warranty. You should talk with some of the major manufacturers here who will give you the same warranty. Might I suggest Pacific Yurts, Ranier or Colorado Yurts as I believe they all offer a similar warranty.

Myself, I am partial to Pacific Yurts because I own one and the roof looks just as good today as it did 5 years ago.

Is your cover canvas or vinyl?

Chris

My 100% 17 oz. treated canvas cover lasted about four years. I live in CO and our weather is similar to New Mexicos. I made the cover from a tarp, and of course as such there is no guarantee. If I had purchased a ready made cover, l'd the company that made it. IMO that is extremely short life for a pro made vinyl cover.
