Excited to announce that I was actually successful in getting a bank to finance my yurt! Seeing the requests that were constantly coming in with questions about financing, Shelter Designs Yurts worked with me and the banks to create a 'Yurt Loan pilot program.'
My wife and I were the guinea pigs for the bank and we all worked together over the last year to make this work. Essentially it works similar to a mobile home loan. The banks were able to offer a 10 year fixed with zero down @6% for the whole cost. After seeing the crazy interest rate on peer to peer lending sites this was a great offer.
The bank was awesome and excited to help the local yurt company offer this to clients. Although we were cleared, they want to run a few diagnostics on the loan to see if there is a more efficient way to streamline the process for future yurt loans. They hope to be able to offer this to the public soon! Once I get the green light from the bank that they have a good system in place I will happily share their info to other prospective yurt buyers!
This is super exciting as I know a lot of yurt dreamers like us have been held up due to no financing options. Will keep you all posted as things progress!
