Dome Opener Dilemma

Some updates since my last post here: my 8 meter yurt from China finally arrived and is 90% up. This yurt I plan to live in while I build my Smiling Woods Yurt over the next 12 months.

Due to a number of problems the Chinese yurt company upgraded my dome opener to 2 electric dome openers (which I appreciate). The challenge is that the plugs are Chinese and the voltage is 220v and the power specs on the back say kraft: 400 watts and Pn: 24 watts. I am off grid running a Titan Solar generator - with 1000 watt solar array and 2000 watt battery - I have only 110v and so 400 watts is a lot of power it seems to me.

I can either try adapting the electric dome openers or try buying hardware to manually open the dome (recommendations? I know Pacific yurts does not sell parts to yurters who have different brand yurts).


Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The 400 watts will only be used for a few seconds as it opens and closes, or you can just unplug it when not in use.

I have no idea. You might try asking on the Q&A section of that page. If not, peruse the other converters there and you should be able to find one.
