This is in a crazy location too... if it weren't for all the vog (volcanic emissions) lingering in the air, you'd be looking at nothing but ocean in the background there. His driveway was this crazy, steep, 1/2 mile, goat trail of a thing with all kinds of small lava rock on it that would act as marbles when you'd try to drive back up. That job was a beast. But he's stoked with his yurt.
One thing to remember on decks like this is, if you are in an area that gets a lot of rain or high UV, heavy snows that sit, the deck won't last long without a roof. We could get away with this design on the Kona side (dry side) of the island with just some real good UV resistant paint. But this would never last more than five years on the Hilo side (wet side) of the island.
