Jafo, that's a good idea about putting the new rope in before removing the old. The old rope around the top seems fine. The only reason I even considered replacing it was the rope that pulled open the "window wall" outer cover broke. When I picked up a piece I could break it in two with an easy tug.

A quick note about wasps. If you have electricity at the site you can use a shop vac to remove the wasps on a cool morning.

Thanks for the tip. I hate the little mothers. Burned out a nest just a couple days ago, in our outdoor grill. Saw one enter the gas pipe hole. Raised the lid and they didn't like that a bit. Killed em all/
