Re: Yurts and energy consumption (Firewood)

Re: Questions About Building a Maine Yurt

hi,
i looked at the titan anchoring system, seems that they would be good in preventing your Yurt from blowing away, but they would still heave with frost? Which is okay as long as you can re-shim...

Re: Did you curve your countertop to fit the wall?

I don’t particularly like a counter in the yurt against the wall, as I like to be facing people in the interior. I build shelves on the outside wall for food. Dishes, etc. So, i put an island...

Re: Rigid Foam insulation and Drywall

I had another idea regarding the roof. cut pie shapes out of S.I.P., So that they center on each roof joist. No thermal conductivity through the joist? This way you can see your joist and have...

Re: Rigid Foam insulation and Drywall

I think i would remove all of the vinyl cladding first , as that would be the mold culprit. Mill strapping to 1/2 thick, and install around the lattice work horizontally every 16”, screw thin...

Re: Rigid foam insulation against lathe / canvas

I agree with Jafo, regarding largest wood stove. I believe the frost line will move inside the yurt to the lattice on cold cold days, So it seems that you need to be able to ventilate that space . ...

Re: Yurt sizes.....16 vs 20 ft or?

I have a 24’ yurt, and am happy with that size, so 16’ gives me a headache. But, I think some Yurt Manufacturers have a taller wall option that gives you more room for a loft? I think most Yurt...
