Generally you would need something to hold the roof from pushing out the walls. In a cabin you would have collar ties that connect the top of the walls to the roof rafters which creates a triangle ....

My town does not do building permits? Although the state has adopted BOCA, so if their is a problem they will go back to that.. The big issue is always septic systems, which I am sure are regulated,...

We have standard foil backed bubble wrap , on walls and ceiling, and 1-1/2" rigid foiled back insul. under the floor.. Probably need to improve the installation, as there are spaces ( small) ....

We are mid New Hampshire in the mountains, with a 24' WMY. Generally we are pretty comfortable "Tee Shirts" till we get below 0, than the sweaters start coming out.. at -20 pile jackets
