I'm sure that the dog's diet will have some bearing on the DTU content. Luckily for me, my two retrievers have a fondness for gnawing on branches and logs, as well as eating dried leaves and weeds....

I have Becky Kemery's book and all I found in there was reference to "sometimes several layers" of felt. No mention of thickness or number of layers.
