Re: Gutters on the Yurt Skirt

Exactly what I think. It's so surprising and disappointing the companies use plastic. not only because it's not weather resistant, but it's a terrible material ecologically in general I try to avoid....

Re: Insulating a yurt roof

I've been meaning to follow-up with a photo and I finally properly finished our fabric covering on the insulation which is really just for show. Here's a peek at the finished product (attached I...

Re: insulating the roof

Reinventor, what you are explaining is :You put the yurt up, then the insulation, then a layer of plastic that you taped the seams?

Now that we have this problem, hindsight is brilliant. I am...

Re: insulating the roof and CONDENSATION?

Hi Folks,
We successfully insulated the roof with salvaged foam board cut to triangles to fit snug in the rafters. Then covered with a muslin for a better look and tacked up with battens. It's...

Re: insulating the roof

We have forged ahead with a combo of ideas... We ended up getting a good deal on used foam board. We cut to size and put in between rafters. Wasn't too bad actually - just lots of little specs of...

Re: Dome Insulation Install and Condensation

Re: covering insulation. We're also looking at parachutes. There's a small handful of large enough non-rainbow colored ones I have seen. Not super cheap but not too pricey compared to fabric from a...

Re: Dome Insulation Install and Condensation

Interesting. we are getting ready to insulate our ceiling next weekend with rigid foam.
How long did it take you? Cutting the foam to fit the triangles seems like a big hassle but hopefully worth...

Re: insulating the roof

Oh yes - thx. I should have said we have one for the dome but it won't be as think as the rest of the ceiling and we only use it when REALLY cold cause it's so much of our natural light.

Re: insulating the roof

Very helpful folks, thanks.

Related question is since general rule is that you're only as insulated as your spots with the least amount of insulation - does insulating the roof help that much? ...

Re: Yurt Flooring and Bender Board

We used OSB too and painted it. It's not fancy and it's not that easy to get dirt out from between the wood threads but it's affordable and works great. I suggest the OSB without the side that are...
