yurt skylight

Anyone know where to purchase a skylight for the top of a 16 ft yurt? The yurt companies Ive contacted are extremely expensive.

I checked these out and only found blue ones, which would really heat up the yurt. Did you find any light colored ones?

The canvas comes in standard widths so I have to seam it one way or the other, but your way might be less, now I wish I was better at math, lol. BL

I'm trying to decide between seaming the canvas lengthwise, draping over the roof and cutting out a pie shaped wedge, or just cutting many pie shaped wedges,and seaming. I've heard that its better...

Just make sure you build it in the robust style of Colorado Yurt Alpine package, and you should be fine!

If you push each lathe to a right angle, then go around to the door on each side, along circle drawn out on the ground to the size you want your yurt. Also helps to watch lots of utube vids.

When I made a the last lathe wall they just bent because the lathe is thin. No steam needed, maybe its the moist Iowa weather tho,lol

I have built one using plans "Building a mongolian yurt by Sir Orgami Akira" But recently have been inspired by utube videos ,search "Yurta" I will be building another.

Waaaay less expensive to build your own.Use rigid foam board insulation underneath.If you plan on ever moving it ,make it in 2 pieces so you can later pick it up.Lots of u tube videos to help!
