Re: Yurt proportions & golden ratio

I am not good at this kind of thing but I cannot imagine a yurt looking like that and working out. The weight is supposed to push out, against the cable/rope, not down on the lattice.

Re: Window installation

Here is a video of a Retro fit on a Colorado Yurt (Secret Creek). I believe the process is similar with a Pacific Yurt:

Re: installing piping for a wood stove

The wall is much safer than roof. Putting anything through your roof risks leakage.

Re: Dude it's cold! Installing a wood stove

Nice looking stove. I would want a bit more of a hearth though for sparks/embers. I made mine about 20% larger than code required and haven't regretted it. Sometimes you have no idea what will...

Re: Yurt Insulation & Ventilation

1. Is it difficult to install a dome lifter on an existing Yurt?

Probably not difficult if you can get one made for your yurt

2. For the bathroom & kitchen I was going to install venting fans....

Re: Bender board installation

The bender board doesn't hold any weight really. Most screw the sidewalls to it mainly just to keep it tight against the structure.

Re: Bender board installation

Not sure what you mean exactly here. If you are referring to the skirt on the outside perimeter, these are just strips of pressure treated plywood (I forget the thickness off the top of my head) and...

Re: Woodstove one side of yurt, but cold opposite site what to do

A ceiling fan running in reverse does a good job at moving the air around. I just installed one in my yurt this year and am really impressed on how it balances the heat throughout the room. It...

Re: Woodstove airintake outside of yurt ?

I have an outdoor air kit for my wood stove, but that did not affect the draft in any way, which sounds more like the issue you are having. How tall is your chimney stack?

Re: Installing a pellet stove - 24' pacific yurt

I would just use the through-the-wall kit that Pacific Yurt sells. That's what I used for my wood stove and it works fine.

Re: Venting a pellet stove through lattice

I would not cut through that piece at the bottom that is riveted there. I expect it might flex. Go up another diamond if ya can.

Re: Moving yurt package onto property

I should mention that I had a homemade wooden rack on the back that allowed me to carry all the rafters in, in one load.

Re: Moving yurt package onto property

So I had a similar situation. I had the semi deliver it to my home and a buddy with a bobcat with pallet forks put it in my garage. I broke those pallets down into pieces and moved the thing, truck...

Re: New, modern yurt build in Mongolia

Perhaps consider a Bluetti like power backup as they are also designed to run as a UPS. I use one at my yurt to stand between the outlet and my starlink so that when I am monkeying around with the...

Re: Is it hard to keep a 30ft yurt warm in winter?

Here is the stove I use: https://www.woodstove.com/ideal-steel-hybrid-wood-stove

I do have a ceiling fan which does help. I only turn it on periodically.
