    I can read, my wife and my brother inlaw cannot, so I think it depends on your eyes. I have been thinking about getting some dropdown fixtures, if I can find some decent 12 or 24 volt LED ones.

    That will be fine. It really depends on what you are going for. I have seen people put lights on the floor, shining upwards. At my yurt, I have a string of LEDs going right around the center ring.
