Default Zippered window systems

We have a 30' Colorado yurt as a second dwelling at our cottage. We are looking for ideas to make to open and close the windows more easily without needing a ladder. Looking forward to some great suggestions!

Well, my first question would be: why are you closing them?

The yurt is at our cottage (which is only 30 min from our house) so we come and go frequently and rain with a breeze gets things wet inside. So we close windows every time we leave and open when we arrive. I was thing of a roman shade type of thing but looking for ideas.

Have you considered a deck?

No ideas about avoiding ladder work butthe shades but there's gotta be 20K+ in Stickley furniture there.

At todays prices probably closer to 30K. Without doubt the most stunning yurt interior I have ever seen. If there was a yurt and garden mag that interior would be the money shot. lol

I am looking for a much simpler solution than a deck. This is technically the bunkhouse at our cottage. So I don't want to put a whole bunch of time and money into building a deck just for easier windows.

Bob...thank you for the lovely comments. You will be surprised to hear that every piece of furniture, lighting, kitchen cabinetry, and even the oak dining table and the fridge that you can't see in the pics, was all purchased second hand on Facebook marketplace for a total of $1350. It took about 6 months checking each day to get what I wanted. But it was worth it. Thanks again! Oh and that is Canadian dollars!

Hmm, well I can't think of anything other than perhaps putting some permanent benches under each window so you can stand on them and open and close?

Well another expensive option would be to put in regular windows. Here is an example on how to retrofit one:

Well if that is real Stickley furniture you made the score of the century. At that price I'm thinking Asian Stickley knockoff. Real Stickley will be marked as such on each piece. IMO some of the finest furniture made in the U.S. If it IS real you could sell it at a premium price and have a platform built with the proceeds. All that said, good luck.
