Default Tree Cutting Day

Having a small party up at the yurt camp this weekend with 3-4 friends. We are laying down a bunch of trees near camp, opening it up a little bit. Chainsaw massacre on a large scale I guess lol. We are hoping to open up almost an acre in total. Just going to drop as many as we can in a day, then process the logs over the next couple of months. I want to plant some apple trees and other various deer friendly vegetation in there. I should have enough firewood for 10 years when all is said and done. We are bringing up a bunch of food and drink for the post-massacre business.

It is Spring; camp projects await!

Well don't drop one on your yurt. heh heh Sounds like I'm missing out on some fun. I've cut a few cords with my Husky 55.

We cleared a little over an acre of trees. Whew, I am sore lol. Did most of it with my Husky 340.

That is to say we dropped the trees. Still have to process them, but the goal was to just get them down. Many were close to the yurt so there was a lot of rope tying and winching to do which took time. I have enough firewood for 10 years lol.

Dropping an acre of forest- now that's a piece of work right there. Good job.

We have gotten some of it cut/split but we have a long way to go lol. Still, it is good exercise and I don't have to worry about firewood for a long time.

I always have fire wood that needs to be split. When I was younger the split wood was neatly stacked. Nowdays I just grab a round from one pile, split it, and toss it in the 'split' pile. Growin' lazy. heh heh It is good exercise for sure. Have fun.

Bob, I hear ya! I was fortunate to receive two brand new backbones in the form of twin sons, so "I" still stack it neatly lol..

You're a blessed man to have two sons that care enough about pop to help him out.
