Default Steel stud yurt construction?

Hello all,
Newbie here...I'm planning on building a permanent yurt, on some property we purchased in West Texas. I've been debating different types of construction. I found a site where a guy built a small dodecagon using steel studs...12 studs and 12 rafters.
I found the post here: Yurt Builder
I was thinking of doubling up the studs...2 ft on center with 4 ft sides. So, a total of 24 studs, and now I'm thinking about rafters. I was thinking about sticking with 12 rafters with about a 6/12 pitch. After seeing some threads here, which speak of up to 50 rafters, I'm thinking that might be a bad idea. I'm also wondering about ring construction.
Looking for thought, opinions, experience in this area...
Thanks in advance
