Jpinreno,

I too was quite pleased with how quiet my split unit is. It was well worth the investment.

What kind of yurt do you have?

Chris

I have a Pacific Yurt - 16ft with insulated platform, you? What has your split been running in cost - do you have any estimates?

Traditional Mongolian (Groovy Yurt).

I really can't say how much it cost. It is not a full time place and I do not have it up and renting yet. I used it for 4-5 days in a row during the summer and my electric bill only went up by $15.

I will know more next year when I get the tiny house set up next to it and start renting it on a regular basis.

Any idea of how many watts/amps this thing draws?

This is the unit I purchased.

Looks like min 17 amps. Requires 25 amp breaker.

Liked the greenhouse yurt idea! Laughed at the burning money comment. 🤭

Comfortably

heating

a structure in Maine full time (I live in NH) is going to cost you. Esp a standalone. Esp a yurt. But if you don’t run water, make good use of solar and natural wind breaks, and don’t expect 24/7 perfection, you can still have a VERY nice space.

Size matters. (Smaller yurts heat much faster.) Height of the roof matters. How many doors and windows you have - matter.

How about a solar radiant heated floor? No yurt will be energy efficient. Mine is only energy efficient because it’s not heated when I’m not using it or at night when asleep (blankets, hot water bottle, and fat cat!

Try diesel, used in the military for many years, easy to light and use. Different models for different size of yurts and economical. Have a look at our site Itrheat
Ron.
