Yurt Center Ring
The center ring is the part of the yurt that accepts the top end of the rafters. It is also known as a compression ring as the weight and load of the rafters is partially transferred to the ring. In many designs, there are pins on the end of the rafters that slide into holes pre-drilled into the ring. Other designs attach in different ways including bracketing. Colorado Yurts uses a method they call CORR:



Whereas Pacific Yurts relies on steel pins inserted directly into the ring:



The center ring is probably the most consistent feature throughout all yurt designs. It is the critical element in the architecture that keeps the entire structure erect.

Some designs, especially in areas with high snow load, will brace the center ring with posts or even a center pole.
