I built my 16'er from scratch. It sits on a wood deck. Total cost was well under 2K for all materials, that includes the used stove, and 'rated' stove pipe.

I love this idea! We are in the planning stages of our yurt. We close on 36 acres in Alabama in about 2 weeks. We plan to put a yurt there as our permanent home. Being able to see what other people have spent would be a great resource. Along with price, they could share what they splurged on, areas they held back on and plan to upgrade later, creative ways they found to save a buck..........

It's been a while, but I believe when all was said and done I spent about $22,000 between the 30' yurt kit from Pacific Yurts, and the platform. That includes shipping, labor, every thing.

I went with five standard windows, the full insulation package, and the snow and wind kit (2X6 rafter upgrade too).

30' kit with snow wind, 2x6 rafters, 6 windows, 1 double door, full insulation was $14k. Round Concrete pad $2500. Electric to yurt $1k. 3 ton heat pump $2800. Labor $2500. Soft warm 5/8" foam faux woodgrain 2x2 flooring $1200. Total $24k plus $30 in christmas light for ambiance and $700 in backjack chairs and boom! Instant space to hold workshops!

It was 350 miles to pickup at Yurts of America in Indianapolis. I paid $400 for shipping on my trailer which made it easier to build, not having to unload the kit off of a semi.

Hi there,
I live on the coast in Maine and would like to put a yurt up on my property. Are there any yurt distributors that do the setting up or some of the setting up?
Also, if you can recommend a Yurt company in Maine that would be great. I have so many questions and am doing this alone. Could use some expert advise as I don't want to half ass this endeavor...

Although we do not have distributors, we have shipped many yurts to Maine. Our detailed step-by-step instruction manual allows people with no construction experience to assemble the yurt themselves. You might also be able to get local advice from some of our customers, such as Maine Forest Yurts (https://maineforestyurts.com/).
